All About Falmouth, ME
Falmouth is a town in Cumberland County. It is part of the Portland–South Portland–Biddeford metropolitan statistical area. In 1765 Cape Elizabeth (then including South Portland) seceded from Falmouth. In 1786, Portland broke away, followed in 1814 by Westbrook, although boundaries between it and Falmouth were readjusted throughout the nineteenth century. Logistics were the reason for these separations. Population had grown by the 1760s to the extent that separate church parishes had formed, creating rival communities more attuned to local concerns. People also complained about the distance between outer areas and the center of the town in present-day Portland. By 1859, fishing and farming were principal trades. Other industries included three shipbuilders, three brickmakers, a sawmill, gristmill, and tannery. In 1886, the town also produced boots, shoes, tinware, and carriage stock.
It’s no secret that Falmouth has a rich history but it’s also a tourist destination. Make sure your camera is charged and walk the 180-acre historic site, Woodlawn Museum, Gardens & Park. Tour the historic museum, wander the gardens and lawn, walk the trails and enjoy the property. Explore one of the most well-known and unique spots in all of Maine, Big Chicken Barn Books & Antiques. There you will find one-of-a-kind souvenirs you will enjoy forever. See how old technology inspires new ideas at The Telephone Museum. After a full day like that, let someone else take care of dinner! We suggest the steamed butterflies (not really butterflies!) and the crispy pad Thai at Orchid Thai. Year round, people flock to Falmouth to enjoy everything it has to offer, but unfortunately, so do pests. While these bugs and rodents provide benefits to the eco-system in Falmouth, they can also be a serious problem at homes and businesses. That’s when a professional pest control expert should be called in.
Pest control services near you
Properly controlling pests in Falmouth, ME should be done on a local level. Falmouth’s pest issues are different than Cape Cod’s and way different than Vermont’s. The pest control company you choose should have knowledge and expertise in your town. That’s Waltham Pest Services. We have been servicing Maine, Connecticut, New York, Maine, Vermont, and Rhode Island for 130 years. That kind of expertise is unmatched in the industry. And with a branch located in nearby Scarborough, our technicians, customer services representatives, and everyone else that works at that location lives and works in the area, too. Our neighbors are your neighbors, and we treat them that way.
As the Pine Tree State, Maine is known for having everything from cities to forests. Falmouth is no exception. Warm, moist summers give way to cold winters, which means over-wintering insects, rodents, and other small wildlife need to find warm places to wait out the cold. The local extermination experts at our Scarborough, ME branch are used to dealing with mice, carpenter ants, bed bugs, termites, mosquitoes, ticks – and even the occasional cheeky raccoon or hiding bat. No matter the season, your pest control service needs will be taken care of by a local exterminator that knows the area and the pests that are common to it. In the summer, they know that the ponds and birdbaths many people have around their homes can be exactly where mosquitoes like to breed. They know that the ticks that come out during the summer months can transmit Lyme disease so while nobody can help the wooded areas around Walton Park, they can help your backyard stay free from them. In the cooler months, they know mice can try to make their way into your garage – especially if that’s where you keep the 20 lb. bag of dog food! No matter what pest, any time of the year, our pest control treatments in Falmouth can help, including:
